Easter encourages amateur or experienced bakers to make all sorts of pastries to delight young and old. Here’s an easy recipe for soft buns in the shape of adorable little bunnies.
These little buns will be ideal for breakfast, before getting ready for a memorable Easter egg hunt!
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Rest Time: 2h30
Difficulty: easy
Yield: 6 bunny buns
For the dough
For the decoration
In the bowl of a food processor, mix all the ingredients for the dough, avoiding direct contact with the yeast and salt, until you obtain a homogeneous dough. Cover and let double in volume for 2 hours.
Deflate the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions.
For each portion, there are 3 steps: take a small piece of dough and round it to form the bunnies’ tails.
Then take 1/3 of what is left to form the ears in a sort of oval. Cut with scissors to distinguish the 2 ears.
With the remaining 2/3, form a sausage and roll it on itself to form the body (as shown below). Place the ears on the body by pressing slightly to split the 2 parts, and do the same with the tail.
Place bunnies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Cover and let rest for 30-45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Using a pastry brush, spread egg yolk on the bznnies. Lightly poke a chocolate chip into the eye and sprinkle the tail with pearl sugar.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Enjoy warm or cold with jam, spread, butter or plain!
