Here is a delicious recipe of Tunisian bread, very pleasant to eat because of the soft crumb and the crispy crust!
Prep Time:approx. 25 minutes
Rest Time: 2 hours
Baking Time: approx. 25 minutes at 390°F (200°C)
Difficulty : easy
Yield: 4 big breads or 8 small
Ingredients
- 7 cups + 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour (1 kg)
- 2 1/2 tablespoons of dry yeast
- 6 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons of salt
- 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 cup of warm water (3-4 dl)
Instructions
1. Put all the ingredients of the dough in the tank of the robot, avoiding the yeast and the salt to touch each other, and mix until obtaining a homogeneous dough. Cover and let stand for an hour, until the dough doubles in volume.
2. Divide the dough into 4 (or 8) pieces. Flatten each piece with a rectangle shaped roll about 0.8 inch (2 cm) thick.
3. Roll diagonally.
4. Place on baking sheets. Cover and let rise another hour.
5. Preheat oven to 390°F (200°C).
6. Make cuts on top and brush with warm water.
7. Bake for about 20 minutes.
