This year, for Halloween, I suggest you to make 2 recipes, one sweet and one savory. Let’s start with the sweet version, with horrible witches’ fingers that you have to dip in blood (or rather jam!).
Come visit the blog next week for the salty version… mystery…
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Baking Time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: easy
Yield: about 18 witches’ fingers
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (225 g)
- 2/3 cup + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (125 g)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (350 g)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 18 whole almonds
- 1 jar of red fruit jam
Instructions
In the robot bowl, mix the butter and sugar until the mixture has the consistency of a cream.
Add egg and vanilla extract and mix well.
Mix in flour and yeast and knead until dough is smooth. Cover and let rest in a cool place for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
Scoop out spoonfuls of dough and form into finger-like pieces.
Draw the knuckles with a knife and create the nails with the whole almonds.
Place fingers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Let cool.
Serve the witch’s fingers with red jam and/or hazelnuts spread.
