This year, to celebrate St Nicholas’ Day, I’m inviting you to make some adorable buns and let your imagination run wild!
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Rest Time: 2h
Baking Time: 20 minutes at 350°F (180°C)
Difficulty: easy
Yield: 8 buns
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup lukewarm milk (2 dl)
- 3/4 cup lukewarm water (2 dl)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (1 dl)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (700 g)
Instructions
In the bowl of a food processor, mix all the ingredients, avoiding direct contact with the yeast and salt, until you obtain a homogeneous dough.
Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with cling film and leave to rest for 2 hours.
After the resting time, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts.
Use your imagination to create your own buns! Add hats, beards, braids and more!
Place the buns on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Brush with egg yolk.
Use chocolate chips to form the eyes and a little peral sugar to form the mouth or other body parts.
Bake for 20 minutes, keeping an eye on them. The buns should be nicely browned.
