Here is a recipe for hot chocolate with spices, perfect to enjoy while preparing the Christmas meal or decorating the tree.
It’s up to you to sublimate it with whatever pleases you, such as whipped cream, cinnamon, cocoa powder or pieces of marshmallow. You’ll feel like you’re drinking a different hot chocolate every time!

Ingredients
- 3 cups of milk (7.5 dl)
- 1 cup of heavy cream (2.5 dl)
- 1/3 cup of chocolate chips (50 g)
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar (50 g)
- 1 vanilla bean
- 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions
Cut the vanilla bean in half. Place it with the cinnamon stick in a saucepan with the milk and cream.
Infuse for about twenty minutes over a very low heat without ever boiling, then filter the milk through a fine sieve.
Pour the milk back into the pan with the chocolate chips, cocoa and sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly with a whisk to obtain a homogeneous hot chocolate.
Serve the chocolate in large cups, plain or with whatever pleases you: whipped cream, pieces of marshmallow, cinnamon, cocoa powder, …
Tip: for a more “adult” version, add a little whisky, cognac or rum, in moderation of course!
