Ingredients
For the dough
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 sachet of active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 2/3 cup of warm water
- 1 pinch of basilic
For the filling
- some slices of ham
- grated cheese
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until you get a dough (make sure that the salt and the yeast are not in contact with each other, otherwise the dough will not rise). Cover with a clean kitchen towel. Place in a warm space and allow to rest until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
2. On a lightly floured work surface, use a rolling pin to roll the dough out. Make it rectangular-ish.
3. Put the slices of ham.
4. Put the cheese above the ham.
5. Slice the dough, into equal-sized strips. Stack the strips on top of one another.
6. Layer the dough squares in the loaf pan.
7. Cover with a clean kitchen towel. Place in a warm space and allow to rest for about 30 minutes.
8. Preheat the oven to 420° F.
9. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
